THE WHITSUNDAYS

The Whitsunday Islands is a collection of continental islands of various sizes off the central coast of Queensland, Australia, approximately 900 kilometres (560 miles) north of Brisbane.

Their are 74 islands in total, with the most notable islands in the main Whitsunday being Dent, Hamilton, Hayman, Hook and Whitsunday which features the white sands of Whitehaven Beach.

The Whitsundays are noted for their natural beauty and were named in the Q150 list of Iconic Queensland locations.

Popular activities include sun, sailing, golfing, snorkeling and diving. The Islands have been described as a sub-tropical paradise.

The Whitsundays are also one of the most popular yachting destinations in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Whitsundays enjoys a sub-tropical climate. This means hot summers, warm winters and warm clear Spring and Autumn days.

Temperatures will typically range from just over 23 degrees Celsius in the winter  and sometimes over 30 30 degrees Celsius in January.

The Ocean is generally a warm 25 degrees throughout the year.

Shute Harbour is ideally positioned to explore the Whitsundays and adjacent to the Conway National Park.

It is a small residential community with outstanding views of the area.  The Lions Lookout provides views over the harbour and toward the Whitsunday Islands of Repair, Tancred and Shute Island.

The Harbour takes it’s name from nearby Shute Island and is a boarding point for ferries between the Whitsunday Islands and the Queensland mainland.

The bustling township of Airlie Beach is 10 minutes drive from Pineapple House Whitsundays.

The Tropical House Whitsundays is the perfect base for exploring the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef.
